We scream, shout, cry and laugh. All these emotions are so abundant in our lives! No one really understands an emotional woman better than another emotional woman. Men think we sometimes go crazy.

emotional womanSometimes we cry without any reason. Sometimes we laugh so hard that we cannot stop. Women are usually claimed to be more emotional than men, but why is it so? What is this secret emotional mechanism?

Let’s look deeper into our physiology. This is where all emotions actually begin. Our emotions are closely linked to our hormones. Hormones are responsible for the most things we feel and live through every day. Scientists believe that women are ruled entirely by their hormones. Moreover, women are much more susceptible to the so-called stress hormone than men. Even weak emotions may sometimes send us into the whirl of events. We often exaggerate the severity of our problems. At times, we can view our lives in dark colors while, in reality, the situation is easy to resolve. At times, even the minor crisis can infuriate us. The stress hormone that can be responsible for the high levels of emotional tensions in women is presumably called “corticotropinreleasing factor.” This hormone even leads to psychiatric conditions, so women are constantly under the risks of getting a serious emotional disorder. This is why we often ask our men to be more patient and understanding with us.

However, this complicated hormone is not the only reason of our emotional difficulties. Estrogen, the most important female hormone, is primarily responsible for the amount and complexity of emotions in women. Levels of estrogen vary, depending on age and state of health. For example, the levels of estrogen in a pregnant and non-pregnant woman vary considerably. Estrogen levels depend on the stage of the menstrual cycle. However, the mechanism of estrogen influences on female moods is much more complex than anyone could think.

For example, changes in estrogen levels can be responsible for the development of postpartum depression. This is an emotional disorder that develops in women who have just given birth to a child. Almost every fourth woman experiences depressive symptoms in the first 6 months after childbirth, which can be associated with a dramatic decrease in estrogen levels.

At menopause, many women also experience depression and bad moods. Again, the levels of estrogen become extremely low, and at the time of these abrupt changes women’s moods become unpredictable. With time, most women are able to solve their emotional problems and forget about their depressive symptoms. However, when we have long periods of depression and emotional disturbances, maybe it is time to look at our hormones?

To a large extent, being emotional is one of our most peculiar and, probably, best features. We are loved for being emotional, and we are accepted for being able to express our feelings. Women should be emotional and tender. They have the right to be this way. This is really something special about us, and we are happy to be ourselves!
