The female intellect

A few days ago, I decided to conduct a small experiment. I used the Google search engine to search the most popular entertainment and pastime activities for women.

female intellectI was absolutely surprised to see that the only thing the Google search engine offered was ‘SHOPPING’! This raised the question of our beliefs about women and the level of their intellects. I decided to look deeper into the way women learn and entertain themselves.

We girls have many diverse interests that go beyond shopping. Actually, many of us do not justify this simple way of life, where shopping and cheap entertainments like clubbing prevail. We are complicated emotional creatures, and we usually look for something more sophisticated and challenging than shopping. We have a complex intellect that constantly expands, and we have everything to prove that we are skilled, knowledgeable, and professional in everything we do.

I can remember what Nietzsche said about women and their intellect: “The female intellect. Women’s intellect is manifested as perfect control, presence of mind, and utilization of all advantages. Women have the intelligence, men the heart and passion.” This is what Nietzsche wrote in his HH, one of the longest and most enduring works. Women have more to do than shopping. They have become integral members of the intellectual world. We are interested in fashion and household chores, but we also want to go beyond that. Our present task is to reach and maintain a good balance between doing household chores and being successful professionally. Not all, but many women have been successful in this so far.

Men who say that women cannot do anything but shopping, should remember that many women have become outstanding scientists, and many of them have won the Nobel Prize. The first woman to win the Nobel Prize was Marie Curie, who was awarded the prize in 1903. Marie Curie was also the only woman in history to have been awarded two Nobel Prizes during her life! Berta Suttner, Austrian writer and novelist, Jane Addams from the U.S., Emily G. Balch, Betty Williams of Northern Ireland, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Alva Myrdal from Sweden, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from Burma, Rigoberta Menchu from Guatemala, Shirin Ebadi from Iran, and many others – these are the women who hit the world with their achievements. So, can you say that all we search in this life is shopping?

For many of us, entertainment has become a way of life, but for many others, entertainment has become a matter of fascination and professionalism. Everything we love we cherish. Everything we do, we do thoroughly and professionally. We love shopping! We enjoy the small pleasures given to us by life. We are happy to be beautiful and care for our appearance. We feel great when we are respected and loved. However, it’s a pity that we are still limited to shopping. We like it, but that’s not all! If we look fashionable and attractive, that does not mean that appearance is our only asset! Women will conquer the scientific landscape, without losing their fashionable look!
