Chichi Girls' seventh contest fashion theme is Costume & Party. Ladies worldwide, ages eighteen (18+) are eligible to enter for a chance to win gift cards and become winner of Chichi Girls' seventh pageant and contest and Chichi Girls' first costume fashion contest.
Each year, on October 31st, is Halloween (also known as All Hallows' Eve and All Saints' Eve.), the night before All Hallows Day (officially the Solemnity of All Saints.) Common activities include costume parties, carving jack-o-lanterns, visiting haunted attractions, watching horror films, and trick or treating.
A brief history of costume parties on Halloween:
The wearing of costumes and going "guising" at Halloween is recorded as early as 1895 in Scotland. Halloween is often claimed to be a cultural descendant of the Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts celebrated the night of October 31 when ghosts of the dead where believed to return to earth causing trouble and damaging the community’s food supply. Celtic priests called Druids thought it was easier to make predictions about the future during this time. The practice of Guising at Halloween in North America is first recorded in 1911, where a newspaper in Kingston, Ontario reported children going "guising" around the neighborhood. Halloween was transported to the United States by waves of European immigrants, which has become a national holiday, as well as observed around the world.
Halloween costume parties generally fall on or around October 31, often falling on the Friday or Saturday prior to Halloween. In the 1930s, A.S. Fishbach, Ben Cooper, Inc., and other firms began mass-producing Halloween costumes for sale in stores as trick-or-treating became popular in North America.
