Great Exercise Ideas without Going to the Gym

Going to the gym can take a lot of time out of your schedule. If you’re like many women, you don’t have the time in your day to make it to the gym, often making the membership not worthwhile.


If you’re interested in getting in shape without having to spend all that money on a gym that you’ll barely visit, consider some alternatives that work just as well. As long as you’re moving and burning calories, you will certainly reach your weight loss goals and stay in shape. Most of the ideas listed below can be done at home with very little costs at all!

1. Workout DVDs – no matter what type of workout you’re interested in, there are DVDs that you can follow along with. This allows you to work out during a time that is best for you, and at your own pace. Consider investing in a few DVDs, if you don’t have the money for them, you can also check with your local cable’s on demand as they may have some free videos you can try out.

2. Resistance Bands – If you’re not able to buy your own weights, there are alternatives that work just a great. Resistance bands are very inexpensive and very easy to use. They offer you a lot of different options for working out. You can even take them on the road with you if you want to work out while on vacation.

3. Walking – this is a technique that has been used forever! Walking is one of the most traditional methods of burning calories and can be done in the morning before your busy day starts or in the evening once it’s over. Consider getting a pedometer so that you can begin tracking your steps.

4. Sprinting – You can also speed up your walking and just flat out sprint! Sprinting will help you shed pounds much faster than walking. What’s great about this exercise is that you’re able to do it whenever you want and wherever you want. Whether you want to run on the grass, at the park, or on the treadmill, this is a great way to get moving. Consider adding a few sprints to your walking routine and watch the difference.

5. Line Dancing – who says exercising has to be strenuous in order to lose weight? Why not pick up a fun hobby that will help you lose weight at the same time such as line dancing. Even considering a 30 minute session of line dancing could help you to burn as much as 400 calories as it is a great form of cardio workout. You will not only be shedding calories but you will also be developing your balance, coordination, and range of motion. Grab a few friends and join a local class, or even start one of your own.

6. Pole Dancing – want to bring out your sexy side? Pole dancing can really work as a great way to burn calories and even help in spicing up your sex life in the bedroom. You will learn to become more flexible and even build muscle strength and stamina which are all great.
Get creative with how you lose weight, by changing it up every now and again, you’re sure to enjoy losing weight a lot more.
