Women and shopping- a unique connection.

This is actually one of the most common objects of humor and mockery on men’s side. Men believe that shopping is one of the greatest women’s weaknesses.


women shoppingThey also believe that when we shop we do one of the silliest things we could do in life. Oh yes, women spend a great deal of time shopping. Generally, eight years of women’s life is devoted to shopping, a study says. However, many males forget that women do not always shop for pleasure. They shop because they need to keep their children and husbands clothed and fed. It is because not all men can assume a shopping responsibility that women become so focused on shopping.

Most women confess that, of the 365 days in a year, 301 days are colored with shopping. For pleasure or necessity, women are bound to conduct regular shopping trips. Food shopping usually takes not more than an hour, while pantry shopping may last as much as two hours, stretching to 94 hours per year. 90 times a year an average woman goes shopping for clothes and things related to their appearance. Driven by the latest fashion advertisements and discount claims, women spend 100 hours more in shops per year. Footwear takes 40 hours per year, and mundane items like shower gels and deodorants take 17 hours per year, the Daily Mail writes. The most interesting is the fact that, 51 times a year, women will also go to the so-called window shopping, which means that they will look for the things to be bought in the future.

Is it that bad that women are so focused on shopping, and is there anything men could do about it? Honestly, I do not think that men can ever do anything about women’s commitment to shopping. I rely on my own observations, as well as on the results of the most recent studies. It appears that women’s devotion to shopping goes back to the beginnings of the human evolution. Since the earliest times, women sought to outperform men in hunting and feeding their families. Women have some sort of mental maps in their heads, according to scientists, that enable them to find the most appropriate food products. Of course, these findings are rather metaphoric, as modern women do not simply look for food but also focus on finding other, no less important things like clothes for their husbands.

In ancient African societies, where men were responsible for hunting mobile prey, women were primarily busy with collecting plants. They have retained their habit until present. There is nothing bad about women’s love for shopping. Moreover, it is not love in its purest term but, rather, a long-standing instinct which women can never beat. So, let’s accept our instincts and desires without changing them. Well, unless, of course, shopping does not turn into a mania. Remember, that you look so well only because you know where and how to shop. You also know the remarkable taste of being a shopping ideal!
