By day, we’re expected to look a certain way. Whether you’re a homemaker or a career woman your makeup is likely more subtle during the day.

We tend to wear more natural looking styles that simply compliment our best features. However, when the opportunity comes up for us to go out and have a good time we want to wear makeup that expresses truly who we are. You want to stand out in your own unique way, and therefore you tend to dress your makeup a bit more by adding darker or brighter colors and great combinations. If you are looking for something to give you that wow factor when you step out, review the pointers listed below.

1. Eyes Or Lips
When you are going to start your makeup you must first determine whether you want your lips or your eyes to be the main attraction. You do not want to be too bold and therefore choosing one as a focal point is always going to be best. If you’ve decided to focus on the eyes you want to heavily line them, use some smoky eye makeup and dark colored mascara. In this case you would make your lips more soft and neutral in color. By adding intense features to your eyes gives you that sultry look that is great for a night out with the girls.
If you’ve chosen to make the lips the center of attention you want to make your eyes more natural by using natural shades of shadow. Make sure that both your eyeliner and your mascara are applied very thin. You should be sure to exfoliate your lips so that when you apply the lipstick it will be very smooth. Exfoliating also helps to ensure that you don’t have cracked or peeling lips. Next you want to apply some lip balm. Your lipstick colors should be eye catching so stay in the red, coral, or deep burgundy family.

3. A Dramatic Cat's Eye
Going out on a hot date, or maybe trying to light a spark with your significant other? Going for the dramatic cat’s eye could easily do the trick. By using a heavy winged eyeliner you’re giving off a very sexy look with your eyes. If you’ve never used a winged eyeliner before you want to start off by using a thick business card. Hold the card at a 45 degree angle starting from the corner of your eye. Begin applying the eyeliner to your desired thickness. If you’re not able to apply it right with liquid eyeliner you can also use a pencil liner or a gel based liner.

These great beauty tips for the evening look will have you standing out for sure. If you’ve never really experimented with your makeup consider practicing the night before so that you can get the right look and colors for you. After practicing you will soon get the hang of it, and can start creating new looks every time you go out!
